KINGS CROSS CAR MARKET INFORMATION GUIDE:

The Kings Cross Car Market is the only Car Market in the world where genuine travellers only are allowed to sell their cars. Local residents and particularly car dealers are not allowed to sell in the Kings Cross Car Market.

Every vehicle for sale in the Kings Cross Car Market has an Inspection Report/Roadworthy Certificate/MOT/Pink Slip which tells you how safe it is to drive and lists any repairs required. Demand to see this Inspection Report BEFORE buying the car. These are safety, not mechanical inspections. You should also get a pre-inspection mechanical report on the car BEFORE YOU BUY IT or an estimate on the cost of repairs.

There is a staff member working in the Car Market between 9am and 6pm every day to assist you. You can get assistance from the office upstairs on Level 5, 24 hours a day. Car Market cars come from every State in Australia.

Our staff are the ONLY people in the whole of Australia who know everything there is to know about the legalities of buying and selling Interstate vehicles. Do not believe everything the seller is telling you.

Each State in Australia is like a different Country when it comes to the rules and regulations about buying or selling a car. Some States allow you to register and transfer by mail. Some States require an Inspection Report just to transfer the vehicle to your name AND you may have to go to that State. Some States require an Inspection Report to re-register the vehicle. If you are re-selling in our Car Market, it does not matter in which State your vehicle is registered, as our buyers are travelling all over Australia.

BEFORE you buy a car, talk to the staff and have the answers ready to the following questions; Where will you sell the car? Where and for how long are you travelling? How many passengers? Do you want a Station Wagon, Campervan or 4WD? After 10 years of research, here are some facts on what people buy. Station Wagons 50%, Vans/Campervans 35%, 4WD's 10%, Sedans 4%, Motorcycles 1%.

Our staff are here to help you have a hassle free holiday as far as a car is concerned. We also give advice on cheaper registrations so that you might make some money on your purchase. We are here to help both buyers and sellers. As we only charge sellers parking fees and no commission, we do not care which vehicle you buy, as long as you buy one. As a buyer, you are our next customer and we want you to return to us and sell your car.
